                                                  ABOUT

Jed Lewis, Ph.D., is an editor, the author of Deliberate Indifference, a novel, and the publisher of a small literary press, Laughing Fire Press, that specializes in socially-relevant fiction, poetry, and plays. He is thoroughly familiar with all the steps in the publication process. He has recently edited three novels, a collection of short stories, a memoir, and a book of poetry, and is currently editing two novels and an epic poem.

"Jed Lewis is a phenomenal editor.  His grasp of the mechanics of English is exceeded only by his understanding of the form of the novel.  He addresses character, theme, pacing, and fluidity of language, among other things and always with respect for the writer’s vision.  I paid someone else a lot of money to edit my manuscript and he did nothing. Jed Lewis helped me create the manuscript I originally envisioned.  Now I have a New York agent.  Next step: publication!"                               S.L. McCuistion, Author of Accidental Choices

"Jed has a thorough understanding of the developmental process.  He is patient, careful, and pays attention to details.  He cared about my story and the characters in it.  He was a valuable resource and helped me resolve major structural problems, issues, and concepts, while also helping me put the finishing touches on passages and my story as a whole.  Most of all, he helped me create the novel I wanted to write."

M. Heineman, Author of Cube Paradise

"As a new author, I felt very nervous about finding the right person to edit my book, especially someone who would not judge me too harshly or charge me too much. Dr. Lewis was very professional and kind in the editing of my first book. He guided me through the process and helped me see the strength in the novel. He helped me realize the identities of my characters and also understand what areas needed additional work. I felt very comfortable in talking about my story with him. He did not charge an arm and a leg and I felt I got more for my money in the work that he did. I feel like I was truly taken care of as a client and was treated fairly. I would recommend him to any author.

   L. Sells, Author of Going to the Water

"Jed Lewis is a quiet, profound, multi-skilled individual, an editor who provides his clients with discernment, clarity, wisdom, and knowledge. . . . Jed is an excellent listener; his depth, insight, and skill are priceless. . . . If most editors clearly define their purpose and intention with their clients, Jed Lewis is a master at both. He ensures that he thoroughly understands the purpose of my story and is careful to define his purpose and intentions along with the next steps. . . . I highly recommend Jed Lewis's services to any writer who wants to collaborate with an excellent editor.
